ESN Adventure Train 2025
200 students, 22 ESN organisers, 4 towns, 2 countries, 6 DJs, 3 locomotives, 7 carriages, loads of activities and endless memories – all on a single train! That’s what the ESN Adventure Train was all about

From 2 to 4 May 2025, a wave of energy, enthusiasm and cultural exchange swept through Slovakia. The first edition of the ESN Adventure Train, organised under the auspices of the Erasmus Student Network Slovakia and all its 10 local sections, brought together Erasmus+ students, Slovak travel enthusiasts and local volunteers on a unique journey aboard a private train, which left all participants with unforgettable memories. 200 young people of various nationalities had the opportunity to experience this fascinating journey for themselves.

On the first day, the participants also visited the Slovak towns of Trenčín and Poprad, where they were treated to a variety of activities – from exciting games and sightseeing tours to an evening programme. At every stop along the train journey, they immersed themselves in the local atmosphere and discovered what makes Slovakia so unique. A pleasant surprise was a short trip to the Czech town of Horný Lideč, which introduced the students to the beauty of the Czech countryside.
Saturday was spent in Košice, where a full-day programme had been organised, including a guided tour of the historic centre and visits to various museums and attractions. The afternoon was spent exploring the city at one’s own pace or simply relaxing, whilst the evening culminated in a social programme and an after-party, which once again brought all the participants together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
However, what makes the ESN Adventure Train event so special is not just the destination, but the journey itself. During the journey, the train became a temporary home, a place for socialising and a space for forging new friendships. The journey was accompanied by music, conversations in various languages and a pleasant atmosphere, all of which helped to build a truly multicultural community.
Each stage of the journey was devoted to social activities, games, competitions and presentations of various attractions. A number of activities were organised in the towns, such as city tours, visits to museums and cultural sites, and city games. These outdoor activities were designed to encourage teamwork whilst exploring the various locations.
Furthermore, travelling by train – as an environmentally friendly mode of transport – highlighted the values of responsible tourism, which are in line with ESN’s mission.

Although by the end of the trip the participants were showing signs of tiredness after an intensive programme and days packed with activities, they all left with smiles on their faces and a wealth of memories that they will cherish for a long time to come. This unique experience brought them together in a way that only an adventure on the rails can.
Thank you all for taking part. We hope it was a wonderful experience for everyone, and we look forward to seeing you next time!
