Business meeting with Siemens Mobility in Vienna
On 29 November 2022, we set off for Vienna. Our aim was to attend a business meeting with our business partner. We discussed the terms of purchase for new carriages for our company with Siemens.
Siemens night trains
The Viaggio night trains from Siemens Mobility will be our company’s flagship product. Together, we are planning four trainsets, each comprising 10 carriages. The Viaggio trainset will be the most modern trainset operating in Europe. The trainsets comprise sleeper and couchette carriages. A new feature is the sleeping capsules, which are set to be a real ‘game-changer’ for night-time travel in Europe. We plan to use the trainsets on longer night-time routes across Western Europe. At the same time, we will be helping the planet, as rail travel is more environmentally friendly than air travel.
A tour of the Siemens Mobility production facility
During our meeting, we also took a tour of the production plant, where we had the opportunity to see the true quality of the manufacturing process for ourselves. The production process itself is literally flawless. They use state-of-the-art technology and high-quality materials in their manufacturing. Siemens Mobility is a true market leader when it comes to quality and the production process.
Planned routes for Viaggio
Viaggio will primarily operate on long-distance routes across Western Europe. From the Apennine Peninsula to Scandinavia, we are able to provide high-quality services. One of our objectives is to bring high-quality rail transport to the Balkans as well. Here, too, we can utilise trains from Siemens Mobility, for example to revive the regular Orient Express service.
Siemens Vectron
Each train set will be hauled by a Siemens Vectron locomotive. These are among the most modern locomotives in Europe. Their exceptional quality is evidenced by the fact that more than 1,200 have already been manufactured. The Vectron’s reliability, as measured by railway companies, reaches up to 99.24 per cent. The maximum speed ranges from 200 km/h to 230 km/h. A huge advantage is the fact that individual locomotives can operate in almost any country in Europe. This is one of the reasons why the Vectron is the obvious choice for our company.
